There are various gables at the Amsterdam Canal Houses like step, triangular, bell, neck gables. These gables refer to the front apex of the roof. To make gables on houses was very popular between 1600 and 1800. This house has a typical bell gable. The protruding hoist beams are used to bring heavy furniture and big objects though the window inside the house since stairways are too narrow.
