Virgin Mary in Santiago de Chile
This souvenir presents an iconic statue of Chile which all devoted Christians are sure to love visiting and admiring on a day with plenty of open blue sky. Situated in the capital city of Santiago, this rendition of the Virgin Mary is a real work of art akin to statues of the Greeks who would make them as a tribute to their gods. The statue is fourteen meters tall and make people look very tiny which can be appreciated in the picture.
However, what makes this picture stand out is how it is about more than just the statue, but rather the entire experience of visiting. From bottom to top, the eyes follow a stair case that reveal a lush landscape with gorgeous trees and even a palm tree to the left of the statue.
A Visit to the Cerro
This is Cerro San Cristobal, which along with Cerro Renca, is the highest peak surrounding Santiago. One of the locales and tourists attractions is visiting the Cerro, and climbing the stairs to the statue of Virgin Mary which is monumental. Religious visitors can visit the chapel located at the base of the statue and attend mass. Special masses are held in the adjoining amphitheatre for bigger crowds. This chapel got international fame when Pope John Paul II prayed in 1987 when he visited Chile. If you decide to visit the site, you can take the funicular which will take you to the top. This means of transportation are very popular in many cities of Chile due to the inclination of the terrain which prolongs the steep of the Cordillera de los Andes. This is a great souvenir to give as a gift to a friend who cherish religious stories.
