Rainforest in Gabon
Over eighty percent of Gabon’s total area is covered with lush forests. The forests contain around eight thousand species of plants, of which, around twenty percent are not found anywhere else in the world. Rainforests of the country also consist of endemic species of fauna including two hundred mammals and approximately six hundred species of birds. The country has thirteen national parks and is recognized as a “nature conserving country.” One of the reasons behind the flourishing and thriving forests of Gabon is that the rate of deforestation was extremely low in the past. However, nowadays, the rainforests are in danger of becoming wiped out of the country as commercial logging is extensively practiced in the country.
