Romantic View of Missouri River Bridge on Acrylic Fridge Magnet

The Missouri River Bridge is a type of a truss bridge constructed over the Missouri River and connects Council Bluffs in Iowa with Omaha in Nebraska. A truss bridge is a kind of bridge that has a superstructure made of truss. A truss consists of small triangular fragments that join to form a bigger structure. While travelling on a train on this bridge, you can witness several beautiful and romantic views just like the one shown on the acrylic fridge magnet above. This magnet will look lovely on your fridge and will always serve as a reminder of your tour of the Missouri River Bridge.

History of the Bridge

The bridge was inaugurated on 25 March 1873. Since then, the bridge has been reconstructed twice; the latest rebuilding project was finished in 1916. There were hardly any railroads in Omaha during 1862, which made it difficult to travel across the city. Hence, it was decided to construct a bridge spanning across the Missouri River in Omaha. A bridge was built, but it soon became obsolete, as it could not support the weight of heavy trains. It was switched by a new bridge in 1888, which also became outdated. Finally, a new bridge was created that was stronger and more durable than the ones before it.

The Missouri River

The Missouri River is one of the chief water sources of the United States and it is the longest river in the entire North America. It rises in the Rocky Mountains located in the western region of Montana, and then flows towards the south and east for about 3767 kilometers prior to flowing into the Mississippi River in the northern area of St. Louis in Missouri. The Missouri River and Mississippi River together form the third longest river across the world.
