Omaha, Nebraska's Biggest City is the Feature of This Souvenir Fridge Magnet
Located along the western banks of the mighty Mississippi River, Nebraska's largest city is Omaha. This acrylic fridge magnet's image shows the center of the town's financial district: Downtown. This area is home to a number of the city's most important companies including Berkshire Hathaway, First National Bank of Omaha, the Kiewit construction corporation and ConAgra Foods. The city has a lot to offer the day visitor. The most popular site is the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, which is home to the largest cat exhibit in the United States. A year-round zoo, its domed habitats allow warm-weather animals to live in the relatively chilly climate of Omaha. The city is also the yearly host of the College World Series, when the best eight teams of US college baseball come to town to fight for the national championship.
The First National Bank Tower and the Woodman Tower, the Landmarks of Omaha
Two buildings dominate the skyline of Downtown Omaha: the First National Bank Tower and the somewhat smaller Woodmen Tower. Both are prominently visible in the image on this acrylic fridge magnet. First National Bank Tower is a 634 foot (193 meters) tall skyscraper with forty five floors; it is currently the tallest building not only in the city, but in all of Nebraska. The impressive building was only completed in 2002 and has already become a fixture of the city. It's owner and largest tenant is First National Bank of Omaha, which is one of the nation's largest privately-owned banks, as it is in the hands of the Lauritzen family. Nearby is the 478 foot (146 meter) Woodmen Tower, previously the tallest in the city. The building is the home to the Woodmen of the World fraternal benefit society. This company is the largest member-owned insurance company in the world and was formerly a semi-secret men's club.
