Unit Monument at Antietam National Battlefield

Antietam National Battlefield is a protected area along Antietam creek in Sharpsburg, Maryland, United States. The Antietam national battlefield honors those who fought in the one day battle of the American civil war. It was a bloody battle where around 2300 soldiers were killed. This acrylic fridge magnet souvenir, with the depiction of a statue of Antietam national battlefield, is a memento for tourists visiting the area. The "Bloody Lane" marking stating the date September 17, 1862 makes this souvenir more suitable to remember those war days. This national military cemetery is situated among the Appalachian foothills near the Potomac River. In August 30, 1890 the park was established as Antietam National Battlefield site and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966. This Antietam national cemetery covers around 11.36 acres. The cemetery contains only Union soldiers from the civil war period. This battlefield also contains the graves of soldiers who fought in the Spanish American war, World War and the Korean War. The cemetery was undertaken by the national park service in 1933. Presently, Antietam National Battlefield Park is the home to almost 100 monuments and over 200 historical markers.
