Beautiful Sand Beach In Acadia National Park, Maine Pictured On An Acrylic Fridge Magnet

The tranquil picture on this acrylic fridge magnet, from the catalogues of World Wide Gifts, features a beautiful sand beach in Acadia National Park, Maine. The park is home to much varied terrain from sandy coastline, to rocky cliffs and mountains. The National Park was originally founded with the name Lafayette on 1919; it was not until ten years later, in 1929 that the name was changed to Acadia. The park was originally the idea of the landscape architect Charles Eliot. He received backing from his father Charles W, who was a president of Harvard, and from George B Dorr. This support came in the form of land donation and of advocacy of the project. It is fortunate that the three men had such foresight or the collective scenic parkland of today may have looked quite different.

Visiting Arcadia National Park, Maine

Aside from the attraction of nature, the park is home to much flora and fauna, there are many activities to bring visitors to the Acadia National Park. It is a popular area for camping with Blackwoods and Seawall Campground being two of the main areas for this. Visitors can take to the roads, paths, and trails whether, hiking, climbing or biking. For those wanting to experience the beauty of the area in a slightly less energetic manner bus and coach tours take place regularly. Even some of the roads within the park add to its grandeur. John D Rockefeller commissioned fifty miles of carriage roads to be built. These roads include seventeen granite bridges all of which were individually designed; no two bridges are exactly alike. The entire area is an attractive place to visit as can be seen from the picture of a beautiful sand beach in Acadia National Park on our acrylic fridge magnet.
