Quantum Leaf - A unique Memento

Quantum leaf is a unique attraction of Des Moines, the capital city of Iowa and hence its vinyl fridge magnet souvenir is a must-obtainable memento. 15 feet in diameter and 11 feet in height, it looks like a huge dying leaf, with curled edges. It is placed in a fountain with water pouring from the leaf into a circular pond. Artist Sally Vagliano Pettus sculpted this unique sculpture. This Quantum leaf is found in Downtown YMCA in Des Moines and it signifies regeneration. Apart from this, there are several architectural splendor and cultural attractions in Des Moines. The city was originally founded in 1843 and was named "Fort Raccoon". Later, it was christened as "Fort Des Moines" after the Des Moines River and was later further reduced to the shorter version "Des Moines".

Some Little Details About Des Moines

Des Moines, though the most populated state in the city of Iowa, houses a population of just 203,000. However, the city consistently makes it to the top national lists for various reasons. Forbes Magazine recently ranked Des Moines as the best place for Business (2010) while it was ranked as one of the best mid-sized cities for Quality of life, by MSNBC. Moreover, it is the third largest insurance capital of the world after London and Hartford, Connecticut. Every week, more than 77,000 people come to work in downtown, one of the highest rates per capita in U.S. The city's Sky walk System is outstanding with 4 miles of elevated pathways connecting buildings together. This apart, the Capitol building with its political glory and cultural splendor happens to be the number one tourist attraction of Des Moines.
