Description

The Epic Journey of the White River

The majestic White River is one of the longest rivers of North America. It flows through the states of Arkansas and Missouri, spanning a total distance of 722 miles. The river originates in the Boston Mountains of Northwest Arkansas and is known as Lake Taneycomo in the Branson area. The first dam that was built on the river was named the Powersite. The dam is fed by water from the Table Rock Lake and empties itself into the Bull Shoals Lake, after which it terminates into the mouth of the great Mississippi River. The culmination point of the river at the Mississippi River Delta region is known as Batesville. At this juncture, the river currents become placid and stabilized, making it easily navigable for small boast and vessels. The deepest portion of the river is located at the McClellan Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System. Although the White River is shorter than the Arkansas River, it parallels it in terms of its sheer volume, which is approximately 8,200 cubic feet per second. The major tributaries of the white river include Bayou des Arc, Cache River, Little Red River, Buffalo River, Black River, Roaring River, North Folk River and James River. The White River flows through several cities, which abut its banks. These include the cities of Augusta, Batesville, Calico Rock and Newport. The acrylic fridge magnet depicts a captivating image of the White River, amidst a lagoon full of trees and is an excellent souvenir to remind you of a blissful time spent at the river.

Fishing In the White River

The White River is rich in fish and other aquatic life, which make it a fertile destination for fishing. The upriver area, commonly known as Beaver Lake is a great place to fish for trout. Several different species of trout are found in the White River, including brown trout, cutthroat and rainbow trout. Another fish that is found commonly in these waters is the white bass, which is also a delicacy among locals.
