Isola Bella - The Beautiful Island with Splendid Palace
Isola Bella is one of those exotic Borromean Islands of Lago Maggiore in northern Italy. The island nestles in the beautiful Borromean Gulf, at a distance of 400 meters from the panoramic lakeside town of Stresa. This spectacular island is entirely dominated by a massive palatial structure and an Italianate garden. Till 1632, this spectacular island of Isola Bella was known by the name of l'isola inferiore or isola di sotto. At that time the island was just a mere rocky crag and was the home of a small fishing village. It was in the same year that Carlo III of the powerful Borromeo family started the construction of the grand palace in the island. The island is quite popular among tourists, who all come to savor the beauty of Lake Maggiore. The island offers incredible view of the lake and its abiding region. A colorful acrylic fridge magnet souvenir of the Isola Bella Island flanked by the beautiful Lake Maggiore is undoubtedly a great way to remember your tour memories of Italy.
The Luxuriant Italianate Garden of the Isola Bella Island
Beside the lavish palace, another crowning attraction of the Isola Bella Island is the Italian-style fabulous garden, which nestles on ten terraces and reaches a height of around 37 meters. The garden is adorned with rare flowering plants. The climate of the Borromean Gulf contributes to the beautiful growth of these rare plants. The garden offers a visual pleasure and is beautified with fountains, ponds and a range of statues that date back to the second half of the 17th century. White peacocks wandering over the lawn, enhance the beauty of the garden even more. The garden also hosts a beautiful theatre.
