Key Chain Representing Wisconsin

Named for the Wisconsin River, the name is translated from the Chippewa language and means "grassy place." The state is also known as the Badger state which comes from miners in the Northwest Illinois lead mines that border Wisconsin as well as the temporary caves the miners lived in that were cut out of hillsides; the caves were described as badgers' dens so the miners were known as badgers'. Now it's applied to anybody from this state and is even the state animal. Wisconsin is also called the copper state in reference to the copper mines in the northern state. The most widely known nickname is America's Dairyland, found on the state license plates because of the state's large Dairy production; particularly in cheese and butter.

Wisconsin is the birthplace of the Republican party in 1854 in Ripon. Famous people from the state include magician Harry Houdini, World War Two General Douglas MacArthur, America's Architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The Hamburger Hall of Fame is located in Seymour and on a side note, Green Bay is known as the Toilet Paper capital of the world (with all that cheese?). When you think of Wisconsin you probably think of the location of popular sitcoms Happy Days and That 70's Show. To commemorate all these fun facts be sure and purchase a key ring with the state's symbols on both sides from internet store World-Wide-Gifts.

Wisconsin's State Symbols as Souvenirs

At the top of the seal of the state of Wisconsin is the state's motto which is simply Forward (in Latin of course). Underneath that is a badger. To either side of the coat of arms is a sailor and a miner which symbolize people from the state working on land and on sea. The symbols on the actual shield portray Wiconsin's support of the United States with its representations of the state's main industries; navigation, mining, agriculture, and manufacturing. Under the shield and representing the minerals and farm products is a pile of lead and a cornucopia. Over the seal, on the state flag, is the state's name and under is the year of its statehood which was 1848. The great seal is emblazoned onto a blue backdrop on the state flag. Now you can possess these symbols for yourself by purchasing an acrylic keyring from World-Wide-Gifts along with other state souvenirs and memorabilia.
