The Grand Thailand Bridge
The Grand Thailand Bridge, also known as the Rama VIII Bridge is a very prominent traffic route in Bangkok. Construction of this bridge began in 1999 and was completed in 2002. It was inaugurated on 20th September 2002 on the birthday of King Rama VIII; hence it has been named after him. The beauty of this bridge lies in its design for it was one of the largest asymmetrical bridges in the world back in 2002. It gets the asymmetrical attribute because of a single pylon tower, located on the western side of the river, which supports it with the help of eighty four affixed cables.
The pylon tower has an observation deck at the top, making it the world's tallest bridge observation space to be ever built. When looked from afar, the Rama VIII Bridge oozes immense glory and is a landmark sight in Bangkok.
