Two Wonderful Emperor Penguins In Antarctica Pictured On An Acrylic Fridge Magnet

Two majestic emperor penguins in Antarctica are pictured on this attractive acrylic fridge magnet from the catalogues of World Wide Gifts. The impressive birds stand out against the cool white background of the continent. The environment of the Antarctic may be challenging but it is awe inspiring in its raw beauty. There are challenges to this beauty though, and to species such as the emperor penguins that call this continent home. There is the potential for the rising global population to lead to an associated rise in greenhouses gasses. This rise could eventually lead to a complete change to the Antarctic environment and the destruction of its nature. This is probably the most difficult threat to overcome but it is not the only one. The potential for increased commercial fishing in the area and the dangers of rising tourism and possible permanent habitation could be easier to manage as they are localized but they are just as real a threat.

Antarctica On Film

It would be a disaster if the human race did irreparably damage Antarctica; it is such a fascinating landscape. The worldwide fascination has led to many filmic representations of the area. The challenging environment is a popular focus for the makers of horror movies such as "Alien vs. Predator" and the "The Thing". On a slightly less scary theme, no-one could fail to be enchanted by the animated representation of the area in "Happy Feet". There are also those movies which are actually filmed in the region and show the reality of life there, such as "A Year on Ice", and "The Last Ocean". Real or imagined, Antarctica is an amazing place as the picture of very real emperor penguins on our acrylic fridge magnet shows.
