A Surrealist Image of the Desert
To truly appreciate this magnet souvenir from United States, you perhaps have to be a person who appreciates the use of color in unconventional ways. The desert of this picture looks very surreal and is consequently meant to be admired as much more than just an account of a place in space. There are nuances that draw the gaze in and invites one's mind and eyes to wander.
There is also a great use of contrast between the foreground and the distant background. This gives the scene an almost mystifying factor that can be seen as metaphorical in a way. It is not daring to say that this is mostly what New Mexico is about. Here you can see the wonderful use of shapes and color to give the items being sold a recognizable sense of Immensity.
White Sands: A Place to Remember
If visiting New Mexico, you should stop by White Sands. The traveler can easily get to the park from Alamogordo, which is just 16 miles away, or from Las Cruces. The site is a great vacation stop for families as the kids can play at the dunes and create stories about the old times of the cowboys. These characters traversed the dunes as they rode their horses from one ranch to the other seeking work. Also, the Native Americans were familiar with this site which they walked in groups. The sand in the park is so white due its gypsum crystals. Researchers have found this quite intriguing as gypsum quickly dissolves in water and it is quite rare to find these crystals in such large quantities. The best way to visit the park is by walking along its trails. Ask at the visitors' office for a map to know the circuit of roads. This is a great travel souvenir to take back home.
