The Gateway Arch in St. Louis Displayed on Acrylic Fridge Magnet

The Gateway Arch is the main attraction of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial located in St. Louis in Missouri. The arch was established as a testament of the expansion of the United States towards the west. It stands at a striking height of a hundred and ninety two meters and is the tallest man-made structure in the entire U.S. It is also the tallest building in Missouri that is easily accessible. You will find several nice keepsakes of this arch, nonetheless you won't be able to resist buying this elegant acrylic fridge magnet that displays a stunning view of the Gateway Arch.

Creation and Design of the Arch

The Gateway Arch is situated on the spot of the St. Louis foundation and lies on the western end of the Mississippi River. Construction of the arch started on 12th February, 1963 and was finally completed on 28th October, 1965. The entire establishment of the arch cost almost thirteen million dollars. Renowned Finnish-American architect 'Ero Saarinen' created the design of the arch and the construction project was monitored by Hannskarl Bandel who was a German-American structural engineer.

Visiting the Gateway Arch

Tourists love visiting the Gateway Arch. You can visit it every day during the summers from 8 am to 10 pm and from 9 am to 6 pm during the winter season. All the visitors have to pass through a checking area to ensure that no illegal weapon or device is taken inside. You can easily visit the top of the arch; the view on the top is amazing and you must see it if you are touring the arch. There is no entrance ticket but you have to pay a certain amount if you want to climb up the top of the arch or watch movies there.
