Minneapolis Souvenir: IDS Tower on Acrylic Fridge Magnet
IDS Tower, also known as the IDS Center, is situated in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is regarded as the tallest building of the state. It stands at a height of 241.4 meters and was initially built to serve as the headquarters of the Investors Diversified Services, Inc. which is now known as Ameriprise Financial. If you are looking for a striking souvenir of Minneapolis, Minnesota or the tower itself, take a look at this stunning acrylic fridge magnet that displays a gorgeous view of the IDS Center at night.
Design of the Tower
The IDS Center has a very unique architectural design and it was designed by architect Philip Johnson. Its architectural design is also known as 'zogs', which is a term given to the design by Philip Jackson. It has fifty seven levels and around thirty offices are built on each storey. An annex extends from the IDS tower towards the Marquette Avenue portion of the tower; it has eight floors in total. Its third floor is only accessible via the elevators in the Marquette Hotel while you can reach the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th floors using the elevators in the IDS Center.
More Info about the Height of the IDS Center
When it was created, the IDS tower stood at a height of 235.9 meters but the height was increased by almost 10 inches when some additions were made to it. Now it has a height of about 241.4 meters, but if you include the spires set up on its roof for communication purposes, the height of the tower becomes around 277.4 meters. It was termed as the tallest building in the entire Minneapolis area when it exceeded the height of the famous Foshay Tower that consists of thirty two floors and was established in 1972.
