Bigelow Mountain And Flagstaff Lake In Maine
Bigelow Mountain is a range of peaks along the southern shore of Flagstaff Lake; the highest point of the mountain is West Peak. On its upper portions are approximately one hundred and seventy one acres of alpine habitat. There are many different trails on the mountain, some more difficult than others, such as Fire Warden's Trail and the Appalachian Trail. At the foot of the Bigelow Mountain is Flagstaff Lake. This body of water has a surface area of twenty thousand and three hundred acres but is only forty eight feet deep at its deepest. Salmon and brook trout can be caught in the lake which is also popular with swimmers. The mountain and water combine to make a beautiful natural area, as can be seen from the picture of Bigelow Mountain and Flagstaff Lake on our acrylic fridge magnet.
