NOMA Photo is Great Souvenir from Louisiana
The New Orleans Museum of Art, NOMA, possesses an outstanding collection of artworks displayed in magnificent exhibits throughout this hundred year old facility next to City Park in New Orleans. The picture on this Worldwide Gifts refrigerator magnet includes the lily pond and sculpture at the front entrance of the beautiful museum.
Founded in 1911, the New Orleans Museum of Art originally opened its doors with a mere 9 works of art. Today there are more than 40,000 various objets d'art on display in the museum, including French, American, African and Japanese works in paintings, glass, sculpture, and photography. The New Orleans Museum of Art is one of the finest art institutions in the south.
The Sculpture Garden
The pride and joy of the New Orleans Museum of Art is the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Just outside the museum lies five acres of land dedicated to the display of art, with more than 60 magnificent sculptures displayed in a beautifully landscaped garden of ancient live oak trees, magnolia blossoms, reflecting pools and pedestrian bridges. One of the most pleasant and relaxing experiences one can enjoy during a visit to New Orleans is to spend some time strolling through NOMA's lovely sculpture garden.
Just beyond the museum is the Pavilion of the Two Sisters, which is the entrance to the New Orleans Botanical Garden, another proud heritage for the Crescent City. After you've seen the exhibits in the museum and explored the sculpture garden, extend your pleasant experience with a visit to the Botanical Garden. Beautifully landscaped with thousands of different plant species, the Botanical Garden is an especially lovely setting for an enjoyable afternoon in New Orleans. Both the museum and the Botanical Garden are available for special events, too.
