County Barns in the Beautiful Land of Iowa
The barns of Iowa County, United Nations, reflect a common thread in architecture. Each building looked different but the standard functions, for having animals and storing feed resources, remain the same. The barns are modest in size with an austere finish internally. The Iowa Historical Preservation Alliance estimates that approximately 1000 barns are erasing off in Iowa annually. The count includes typical, rural and urban barns. Works to preserve Iowa's rural buildings, symbols of Iowa's early heritage, is being looked after by the Iowa Barn Foundation. This organization was founded in 1997. They are trying to educate the people about Iowa's vanishing barns and provide grants to help property owners restore their barns. The Iowa Barn Foundation organizes an All-State Barn Tour every year to increase the interest of people in barns. This acrylic fridge magnet souvenir with the depiction of the Iowa County Barn is an excellent memento for tourists to take home.
