The Chicago Evening Skyline, Illinois Pictured On An Acrylic Fridge Magnet
The Chicago skyline is one of the most impressive in the world with its multitude of skyscrapers. The area of downtown Chicago became a perfect place to build in the late 1800s when the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 destroyed much of the area. In 1885 William Lebaron Janney's ten storey high Home Insurance Building became the first building to have a steel skeleton supporting its structure. The boom years of the 1920s saw a massive increase in the building of skyscrapers in the area. There followed two more waves of mass construction of the tall buildings. The 1960s and 1970s saw some of Chicago's most famous skyscrapers coming into being, including Sears Tower, now renamed Willis Tower, The Aon Center, and the John Hancock Center. The last wave is taking place today and saw the construction of Trump Tower Chicago, between 2004 and 2008. Chicago's penchant for skyscrapers certainly makes its skyline impressive as can be seen in the night time picture on this acrylic fridge magnet from the catalogues of World Wide Gifts.
Night Time In Chicago Illinois
The lovely picture on our acrylic fridge magnet shows the magnificent city of Chicago at night time. There are plenty of places to relax in Chicago when the sun goes down. Whichever area of the city visitors choose to eat in, sushi is popular. For a few drinks after a meal there are various areas around Chicago. Lincoln Park is lively and very popular with the younger student crowd. Division Street has just as many bars but is more popular with the slightly older thirty to fifty year old generation. For those able to stand the pace and hungry in the early hours there are plenty of places to get a late night snack such as The Wiener Circle, The Pita Pit, and The Golden Nugget. Of course it is always possible to opt for a quiet night just observing the beautiful skyline as pictured on our colourful fridge magnet.
