Notable Components of the Atlanta Skyline

The city of Atlanta has one of the most spectacular skylines in the country. In the downtown area you have the Georgia State Capitol building, silhouetted by its iconic golden dome. In close proximity stands the stately Peachtree Center, which is the business and financial hub of the city. The skyline in the heart of Atlanta is dominated by the Marriott Marquis, a plush luxury property belonging to the international hotel chain. The building is famous for being the 14th tallest skyscraper in the city and at the time of completion boasted of the largest atrium in the world. The Peachtree Tower, which stands 50 stories high, is the 4th tallest skyscraper in Atlanta. It was designed by Heaton Associates Inc and has been the recipient of several accolades on account of its spectacular design and construction. The SunTrust Plaza is the second tallest building in Atlanta and is 60 stories high. The building was designed by John C. Portman and construction was completed in 1992. Originally named One Peachtree Center, it was later renamed SunTrust Plaza after the bank purchased the building and established its headquarters. At the southern end of the city is the famous Bank of America Plaza, which is notable for being the 6th tallest building in the country. It took just 14 months to construct and was completed in 1992. Its most notable facet is its iconic spire, which is made up of 23 carat gold. The acrylic fridge magnet manifests a scintillating image of the glitzy yet sophisticated Atlanta skyline and is the perfect souvenir to gift a friend after your visit to the city.
