Colourful Vinyl Fridge Magnet Depicting Flags Flying In Arizona
This colourful vinyl fridge magnet, from the catalogues of World Wide Gifts, shows a selection of flags flying in the state of Arizona in the United States of America. Featured on three of the flags is the familiar 'Stars and Stripes' United States national flag. In the foreground is the state flag of Arizona which was created in 1911. The flag was designed by Charles Harris; the Adjutant General of what was then the territory of Arizona. It came into being as a flag to represent a rifle team from the territory that was participating in a competition in Ohio, and became the official flag of Arizona in 1917. The bright colours of the national, and Arizona State, flags are perfectly captured on our vinyl fridge magnet.
The State Flag Of Arizona In The United States Of America
The Arizona state flag predominantly features the state colours of blue and gold. According to state legislation the flag, 'represents the copper star of Arizona rising from a blue field in the face of a setting sun'. The significance of the copper lies in the fact that Arizona is known as a copper production state; production is higher than for any other state in the country. The 'fields' are the same colour blue as that used on the national flag. Another similarity is the thirteen red and gold 'beams' which, just as with the thirteen stripes on the national flag, represent the original thirteen colonies in the country. They are also representative of the 'beams' of the setting sun. This colourful state flag, and the equally colourful national flag, are shown to their best on our attractive vinyl fridge magnet.
