Le Mont Saint-Michel is one of the biggest and proudest attractions France has to offer. Consequently, it is also the subject of many of the souvenirs that this very visited country has to offer. This rocky tidal island is very much unlike anywhere else on the planet and it is because of this that is has a very intriguing history that dates back a number of centuries to when it was a strategic defensive position. This magnet souvenir from France is a great way to pay tribute to it and almost looks like it is a painting. The colors utilized seem so real and representative of reality that one can't help but feel drawn into what they are seeing.

Le Mont Saint Michel in Detail

Le Mont saint Michel is in fact an island that is revealed upon the movement of the tide. The site was chosen as a strategic fort in the Middle Ages and then was the site of a monastery. But it houses a full town that includes a village at the bottom where fishermen and farmers live. Given its unique history and appearance, it was included by UNESCO in the list of WorldHeritage Sites.

It depicts a small world that has been chosen by many writers to place their stories. Some of the fiction books worth mentioning include La Fee aux mites and La Fee des Greves, two novels dating from the Nineteenth century. Roger Zelazny placed his story on this island, the famous The Chronicles of Amber. Pierre Bameul wrote a science fiction book called The Time of the Wind by which this island becomes the new location of the Vatican. So, if you want to write a novel, this great travel souvenir will remind you that Le Mont saint Michel might be a good place to start.
