Add This Interesting Keepsake to your Souvenir Plate Collection

Many people make the day-trip visit to Segovia from nearby Madrid, and it is also a favorite destination for many international visitors interested in the amazing historical landmarks and attractions in this World Heritage City. The places whose images are painted on this beautiful souvenir from Spain are representative of the centuries old architectural achievements that exist throughout the city; the Aqueducts of Segovia, the Alcazar of Segovia and the Segovia Cathedral.

The Roman Aqueducts in Segovia were built in the beginning of the 2nd century, a testament to the extraordinary civil engineering capabilities of the ancient Romans. Located in the Plaza del Azoguejo, the aqueduct was built using over 25,000 granite blocks placed without mortar, and runs for a length of 818 meters. The Roman Aqueducts are the most visited spot in the entire city.

More To Explore in Historic Segovia Spain

The Segovia Cathedral is known as The Lady of Cathedrals, and was the last cathedral in Spain to be built in the Gothic style, and perhaps one of the most magnificent and intricately designed as well. Its incredible soaring towers and their gracefully pointed spires can be seen from almost any point in the city, dominating the beautiful historic skyline of Segovia. The cathedral museum is an interesting place to visit as well, displaying famous and beautiful works of art by such Spanish masters as Pedro Berruguete, Van Orley and Sanchez Coello, as well as one of the very first books ever published in Spain.

The royal palace of Segovia- the Alcazar- is an impressive stone fortress built on top of a rocky promontory overlooking the conflux of two rivers, the Clamores and Eresma. The walls of the Alcazar are constructed in a unique, bow-shaped configuration and its towering spires can also be seen from anywhere in the city. It is another of the important landmarks in Segovia that you must take time to explore during your holiday.
