Megan Bridge on Acrylic Fridge Magnet

A serene yet captivating view of the Megan Bridge is displayed on this lovely acrylic fridge magnet. It is a wonderful keepsake of this beautiful bridge in Japan and will always serve as a remembrance of your trip to Japan. Megan Bridge is also known as Meganebashi or the Spectacles Bridge in English. It is a simple bridge made of stone and is located in Nagasaki. It was established by Mokusu, a Japanese monk of the famous Kofukuji Temple during 1634 and is amongst the oldest stone bridges built in Japan. Meganebashi has also been declared as an eminent cultural property of Japan.

Spectacles Bridge- An Important Tourist Spot of Nagasaki

Meganebashi consists of two beautifully constructed arches; the reflection of these arches in water looks like a pair of spectacles lying on the water and looks very pretty which is why this bridge is also known as the Spectacles Bridge. The bridge is an interesting and important highlight of Nagasaki and attracts lots of tourists towards it every year. Tourists love hanging around and over the bridge and also take strolls on it especially during the evening. If you are in Nagasaki, you should definitely take a tour of this bridge and hiring a tour guide would be a good idea too as he would educate you about the exciting history and construction of Meganebashi.

More Info on Meganebashi

Meganebashi is constructed over the Nakashima River and suffered from a disastrous flood in 1982. It got severely destroyed in several places and a lot of its stones were washed away by the water. Majority of the original stones were found out and placed back on the bridge during the restoration project of Meganebashi. Another bridge smiliar to the Meganebashi is constructed in Ishaya Park too; it was built on a similar architectural style.
