There, he stayed at the Desert Inn for two years and eventually bought the hotel after many conflicts with the owner. During his two-year stay in Las Vegas, Howard Hughes bought numerous other hotels and casinos including New Frontier, the Sands, Castaways, and The Landmark Hotel and Casino.
