Info about the Colosseum

The Colosseum is an elliptical amphitheatre with tiered seating inside it that can accommodate around fifty to sixty-thousand people. Several materials were used to construct it: concrete was used to create the foundations; travertine stone was used to build the arcades and piers of this structure; tufa which is a soft volcanic rock was used to strengthen the piers; bricks covered with concrete were used in the upper levels and in the creation of the ceiling vaults. The first storey of the Colosseum is built in Doric style; the second one is created in Ionic design and the third one has Corinthian architecture.

Roman Coat of Arms

The Roman Coat of Arms or Italy's emblem consists of a cog wheel bordered on the two sides by an oak and olive branch, has a five-pointed star in the middle and the branches are tied together with a red ribbon with "REPVBBLICA ITALIAN" written on it in white. This emblem is used by the Italian Government.
