Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the oldest shopping mall of Italy and is named after the first king of the Kingdom of Italy - Vittorio Emanuele II. Giuseppe Mengoni created it and its construction was completed in 1877. This shopping mall is built of glass and has a huge glass dome on its top; and is octagonal in shape. The Galleria also connects the Duomo and Teatro Alla Scala; and all these three sites are significant landmarks of Milan.
