Interesting Info about the Flag of Cuba
Narciso Lopez was the Venezuelan general who made a serious effort to liberate Cuba from Spain's powerful control in 1848. At that point, Lopez carried the present flag of Cuba for the very first time. This flag is also known as "La Estrella Solitaria" which means "the lone star" in English. That flag was beautifully embroidered by Lopez's wife. This is the first version behind the creation of the present flag of Cuba. The other version says that it was a very hot day in New York and General Narciso Lopez had joined the emancipation struggle of Cuba. Lopez was very tired and exhausted on that day and he fell asleep in a park. When he woke up he realized that a flag is very necessary to get freedom and that led to the creation of the present flag of Cuba.
Description of the Flag of Cuba
Cuba's present flag was adopted on 20th May, 1920. It consists of blue and white stripes and a red triangle with a white star in its middle. The design of the Cuban flag was influenced from the U.S. flag. The red triangle symbolizes the bloodshed during the war of independence; white represents purity and faith; and blue stripes represent the divisions in Cuba.
