Kim Il-Sung was also the head of the Worker's Party of Korea between 1949 and 1994; he was the chairman of the party from 1949 till 1966 and served as its general secretary from 1966 till 1994. He attacked and occupied South Korea during 1950 and was about to overrun the peninsula but was interfered by the UN. He was known as an autocratic and a tyrannical ruler. In the middle of 1960s, Kim Il-Sung started promoting his self-created Juche alternative of the communist national organization. His ideology later served as a substitute of Marxism-Leninism during 1972.
